After a glorious 35 year run, is voice mail dying? Last year Coke made voice mail optional for some employees; now J.P. Morgan is phasing it out for many employees. It seems that voice mail is now being replaced by email and texting or being used as a glorified caller ID function where as soon as the recipient knows who left the VM, they return the call instead of listening to the message. And then there is a savings of $10 per employee. As a user of the world’s 3rd VM system, I cannot help but be a bit nostalgic.
