As IEEE Maine Section Chair, Ron Brown was on the organizing committee of the Maine Engineering Workforce Summit held September 29, 2016. The summit brought together 150 of Maine’s business and academic leaders to discuss the critical need for technically skilled employees and solutions to the issue. As one speaker said, “Without more engineers Maine’s economy will grind to a halt.” Solutions now in process include closer ties between Maine’s public universities to enable the transfer of credits and new engineering facilities at the University of Maine.
